File sharing increases the risk that certain types of document metadata (things embedded in a file, often without your knowledge) can leak online, such as who worked on a document or who left comments on a document. Word has a built-in tool that can help you find and remove personal information and other hidden data.
Remove all personal information and comments before sharing a Word document with others
Microsoft Word has a tool called the Document Inspector that removes personal information from your document before you share it with others.
Open the Word document from which you want to remove personal information.
Select the File tab and choose Info.
