Since the April iOS 14.5 update, 95% of iPhone users have enabled the new App Tracking Transparency feature.
App Tracking Switch Grayed Out? Here’s Why!
According to Flurry Analytics, a media group of Verizon Media, only 5% of iOS users in the U.S. enabled app tracking as of May 7. By comparison, 13% of users globally still opted to allow app tracking on their iPhone.
The research also found that when apps send users requests for permission to track their data, few give them permission. In the US, 3% of users have given apps permission to continue tracking, compared to 5% globally.
The App Tracking Transparency feature lets you turn on or off an app’s ability to track you behind the scenes. Many experts are urging people to turn off app tracking, with some calling the feature “the most significant improvement in digital privacy in the history of the internet.”
