Resident Evil Village is set three years after the events of Resident Evil 7, but returning protagonist Ethan Winters' new nightmare has little in common with the horrors he endured before.

In addition to continuing Ethan’s story, the latest entry in the iconic survival horror series brings back the previous installment’s terrifying first-person perspective. But the similarities largely end there, as Village trades in its predecessor’s unsettling Louisiana setting for a more eerie slice of Eastern European countryside.
The new location isn’t home to the series’ typical zombie-themed threats, but instead introduces a rogue’s gallery of gothic horror classics, including werewolves and vampires. The more diverse cast of creatures also offers the opportunity to defeat them – or run from them – in different ways, meaning that Village will constantly keep you on your guard.
Village picks up the story of everyday protagonist Ethan Winters from the previous entry, but you don’t need to have braved the previous game to enjoy the hapless hero’s latest terrifying adventure. Those who survived Resident Evil 7 hoping for more of the same may be disappointed with Village’s departure from the formula of its predecessor.
