Apex Legends ranked play has been halted today after a strange competitive glitch caused unlucky players to have their rankings reset in season just days after the new split began.
Apex Legends Ranked Uninitialized Bug (Season 22 & Respawn Response)
In the battle royale, Apex players immediately began reporting that they had lost their rank after logging in on Monday, August 12. The in-game messages suggested that the ranked split had been “reset” – a wipe that clearly shouldn’t have happened for over a month. Unsurprisingly, the game-wide reset caused a panic in the community.
Within hours, Respawn responded and confirmed that today’s Apex ranked reset was completely unplanned (and unwanted). The developers are now looking into a way to “restore ranks and Ranked Points for all players,” and until they can crack the code behind this annoying competitive glitch, the Apex team has taken ranked offline. There’s no real timeline for its return, other than when a fix will be ready to roll out.
“We’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready,” the Apex developers promised in a post on X (formerly Twitter), “but in the meantime, Ranked will remain unavailable for affected accounts to prevent them from losing further progress.”
