Sometimes I want to listen to music and not think about the internet, which is harder than it sounds in 2024. My music is on my phone, and when I pick up my phone, I see notifications that I can’t ignore. It’s a weakness, I admit, but I’m sure I’m not the only one. Because of this, I can’t really listen to music in the backyard and read a book—I inevitably get distracted.

The Mighty 3 aims to solve that problem. It’s a music player that can sync playlists from Spotify Premium or Amazon Music. At first glance, it’s inevitable to compare it to Apple’s iPod Shuffle , and if you liked that device, you’ll probably enjoy the Mighty, too. It offers a similar screen-free way to listen to music, updated for the streaming age. It also supports Bluetooth headphones, something that no (non-Touch) iPod has ever offered.

For $125, the Mighty 3 offers streaming music users the ability to listen to music without screens. Aside from a few disappointing design issues, the device delivers on all expectations.

Let’s start with the listening experience, which is probably the most important thing. This is a very small music player, certainly smaller than your phone. The front is 1.5 inches square and the product is just over half an inch thick, not huge but larger than the fourth-generation iPod Shuffle. The Mighty 3 weighs in at 0.7 ounces, which was small enough to clip to my clothing and forget about. I could clip it to my shirt, plug in my headphones, and press play.
