Ring’s second-generation security system stands out from other home security systems thanks to its comprehensive notifications and customization capabilities. However, there are still a few areas that could be improved.
Ring's solid DIY security system looks a lot like the original
I’ve been wanting to install a home security system for a while now, and the Ring Home Security Network stands out for several reasons. First, there’s the ability to expand the number of sensors, keypads, and other components as needed.
There’s also the fact that Ring will already work flawlessly with any Ring-branded video doorbells you own. And finally, you can monitor your security yourself or add professional monitoring for just $100 a year (if you pay upfront), making it one of the least expensive options for professional monitoring.
I looked at a few other options out there, but these reasons led me to Ring. I found a starter kit that I liked, added a few extra sensors that I felt I needed, and then waited for it to arrive. Now, after almost a week with Ring installed, I’m glad I bought it, although I did discover a few things I don’t like about it.
