Riot Games is charting a new course with VALORANT’s upcoming Patch 8.11, which introduces a new map rotation in early June. Breeze and Split are stepping aside, allowing Haven to return to the fight.
New LEAKED Ascent Map Changes
The announcement was made in the latest Dev Updates video, where Product Manager Coleman Palm and Game Designer Dan Hardison shared the news with the VALORANT community. They emphasized Riot’s commitment to transparency on the topic of map rotations, and revealed that the next map rotation will come in Patch 8.11, due in early June.
Map rotation was first introduced in 2022 during the game’s fifth competitive Episode. At the time, with a total of eight standard maps available, maintaining a map pool of seven was considered optimal in VALORANT. That number provided a sufficient variety of maps and prevented players from being overwhelmed by an excessive number of corners and paths to master. And with a new map introduced every six months — ensuring a constant stream of fresh content for players to explore — limiting the map pool allowed players to delve deeper into the strategic nuances of each map in the rotation.
As a reminder, map rotations affect all game modes that use standard maps, but all maps remain accessible for custom games. This time around, the not-so-popular Breeze has been cut, a decision that many VALORANT players are already happy about. On the other hand, many will be disappointed with Split’s second rotation.
