Some League of Legends players are reporting that they have been banned from the game for using third-party applications that reveal player names in their pre-match lobbies.
Faker is back!
This revelation was made by League players in a recent Reddit thread discussing the suspension of former LEC-level mid laner Czekolad, who was penalized for using a third-party extension.
Prior to the 2023 preseason, you could see the names of your teammates’ summoners in your lobbies. However, that was changed in an effort to keep player identities (and intentions for the upcoming match) a secret until you entered the Rift. Previously, you could freely use applications that allowed you to glimpse the identities of your teammates, but the introduction of Riot’s Vanguard anti-cheat software in League has put an end to that practice.
Many players have reported that while permanent bans have been threatened and broadcast over the air, two-week bans are more common for players who have also been punished for using lobby revealers.
