Econ strategies in Teamfight Tactics evolve in Set 12, from a specific economic trait like Fortune to high-value Augments in Magic n' Mayhem.

Over the past few sets, Econ traits in TFT have become increasingly difficult to balance. Either the power levels of payouts and champions within the trait have been too high, or too low. For example, the Fortune trait returned to Set 11 with high expectations, but the trait failed to deliver what players expected from an Econ trait. In response, the devs are attempting an alternate Econ strategy in Set 12 Magic n' Mayhem via five high-stakes Augments.
Econ traits have typically followed a losing streak play pattern to rack up huge payouts that can affect the pace of any game lobby. According to TFT developers, moving Econ strategies to Augments offers more flexibility, allowing players to build each comp while potentially taking advantage of high-stakes payouts.
Fortune returns as an Augment in TFT Set 12, which provides a Loot Orb upon victory and then buffs the contents of that Orb for each consecutive loss before the match win. Players can easily find the Fortune Augment, as it is in the Gold tier instead of Prismatic. However, there are also Prismatic high-stakes Augments.
