One of the most controversial features in League of Legends history is finally hitting the rocks.
Ruler is TOO clean 🤯
The League’s age-old inter-division relegation protection system is being phased out starting with the second ranked split in 2024, Riot Games announced today. With that in mind, players will no longer hit a hard wall at zero LP while in a specific division during a losing streak. If your LP loss exceeds the zero LP barrier, you will be relegated.
This system has been in place for over a decade, as protection against deranking has been a key part of the League's climb since 2013. Since the days of a crude MMR-based ranking system, the League's ranking system has not been as simple and fluid as it will be in the 2024 second split.
With no room for play or protection between the ranks, players have to work even harder, not only to move up from division to division, but to strengthen themselves and prove that they truly belong in that division.
