When you use Malevolent Shrine, there will be a short animation after which you will see a barrage of slashes (Cleave and Dismantle), and everyone in the domain will eventually die. The effect of this domain can be mitigated by having a teammate outside of the domain heal you. During the attack, you will not be stunned and will be able to move, effectively attacking any stunned enemy that is nearby.
