Roku is expanding its lineup of smart home hardware with a new starter kit for a home monitoring system.
Introducing the Roku Home Monitoring System SE | Roku Smart Home
The company began experimenting with smart home devices in October 2022, and is now taking the next step with the Roku Home Monitoring System SE, developed in partnership with Wyze. This new monitoring system includes a handful of devices to get you started, but can also connect to other Roku smart home tech for broader coverage.
One monitoring system comes with five separate devices that you can install yourself and then connect to your smartphone for notifications and remote control. Two access sensors can be placed on doors or windows to let you know when they’re opened, closed, ajar, etc. The motion sensor can be set to alert you or turn on a light when triggered and has a pet setting to avoid unnecessary markings.
The “wireless” keypad acts as part of the analog control system and can be used to turn monitoring on or off and change modes. At the center is a hub with a built-in alarm, which goes off when an emergency is detected, or if you manually turn it on.
