A new security measure has been discovered for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 that disables the device's camera if the bootloader is unlocked.
Unlocking the bootloader breaks the Galaxy Z Fold 3's cameras | Here's how to fix it
The exploit was discovered by two senior members of XDA Developers, a software development community focused on Android devices. The two users attempted to gain root access to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, but the phone’s camera stopped working.
This means that facial recognition will no longer be available and third-party camera apps will also no longer work.
A bootloader is software that is loaded into the memory of a device and is included by default in most operating systems. By using this software, root access to the device can be gained, allowing the user to change or override settings, run special applications that require administrative privileges, or perform other functions that are normally inaccessible.
