It looks like we might also get a look at next-generation AirPods and a 5G-compatible iPhone SE later this year, alongside the iPhone 13 reveal.
New AirPods LEAK! AirPods 4, AirPods Pro 3, and AirPods Max 2! Coming soon?!
Anonymous sources have told Nikkei that Apple plans to begin production of a new set of AirPods in August, suggesting they could expect a release in the second half of 2021. Details about the next Apple AirPods are still scarce – they’re mostly speculation or rumors – but if Nikkei’s sources are correct, we won’t have to resort to educated guesses for much longer.
In addition to rumors about the production of new AirPods, sources at Nikkei also report that Apple plans to ditch 4G altogether in 2022 and instead make all new iPhones 5G-capable.
This 5G capability is said to be rolling out to a new version of the popular iPhone SE model, which has gone without an update in recent years. The new iPhone SE is expected to use a 4.7-inch LCD display (sorry, no OLED) and physically resemble the iPhone 8.
