Samsung introduces the ISOCELL HP1, which the company claims is the first 200 megapixel (MP) image sensor for smartphones, and the ISOCELL GN5.
ISOCELL HP3: Epic Resolution Beyond Pro | Samsung
The announcement was made on Samsung's Newsroom blog, which says that thanks to these sensors, photos will retain "ultra-high resolution" even when cropped or resized.
The ISOCELL HP1 features new ChameleonCell technology, which changes the pixel arrangement of the sensor depending on the environment. The HP1 goes from a 200MP to a 12.5MP image sensor in low-light conditions by merging nearby pixels.
This new construction makes the sensor more sensitive to light, producing clear images even in low light.
