The mid-to-high-end smartphone segment just got super competitive. The recently launched Samsung Galaxy S24 FE looks suspiciously like the Google Pixel 9, not in form factor, but in features and capabilities.

With the two devices barely distinguishable from each other, the small differences, whether they’re camera, AI integration, or overall build, become apparent and can go a long way in deciding which one to choose over the other. Google’s Pixel 9 has received mostly positive reviews, and Samsung’s mid-ranger also packs quite a punch. But is it as good as the latest Pixel? Let’s find out.

Comparing specs, you won’t find much that sets the S24 FE apart from the Pixel 9. But there are several small differences that can make a big impact in day-to-day use, as well as a few areas where one is clearly better than the other, albeit in a small way.

Pixel cameras are known for their sharp, software-enhanced photos that are typically, well… Pixel. But no matter how much post-processing the standard Pixel 9 can do, it can’t quite get past the glaring hole that is its telephoto camera. Don’t get us wrong, the 50MP primary and 48MP ultra-wide cameras with 8x zoom are among the best in the business. But the lack of a telephoto camera could be a major pain in the neck, and one that’s only solved if you upgrade to the Pixel 9 Pros.
