Samsung has stated that the recent hack, which stole the source code of Galaxy devices, is not a cause for concern. However, some experts believe that concern is warranted.

While Samsung assured that neither customer nor employee personal information was compromised, that’s just one avenue for the hackers. The stolen data, which the hackers claim includes biometric authentication algorithms and bootloader source code, could still be used in malicious ways.
“Most major breaches have resulted in the loss of personal data that could potentially impact individuals,” Purandar Das, CEO and co-founder of encryption-based data security solutions company Sotero, told Lifewire in an email. “Establishing a baseline that no personal data has been lost is more of a knee-jerk reaction and not really indicative of the negative potential a data breach poses.”
One major concern that security experts have about the Galaxy device's source code leak is what that code could be used for. Granted, it's not exactly a key to the proverbial city of Samsung devices; hackers can't directly compromise critical systems or anything. But they could use the data to find vulnerabilities that haven't yet been discovered, and then figure out ways to exploit them.
