3D gaming has always required 3D glasses or a headset (such as the Meta Quest 3), but Samsung aims to change that with its latest series of gaming monitors.
Samsung Odyssey 3D Gaming Monitor Without Glasses at Gamescom 2024 – All Specs and Features Explained
Samsung announced the unveiling of its new monitor lineup at Gamescom 2024 via a press release. The new lineup includes the Odyssey 3D, which lets gamers experience 3D without any additional hardware. This is made possible by a lenticular lens, which sends different images to each eye, on the front panel of the monitor. The company also announced three new Odyssey OLED models.
The Odyssey 3D will also rely on Eye Tracking and View Mapping to help create 3D imagery that gamers can view without 3D glasses. It will be available in 27- and 34-inch sizes and will have 4K resolution, and will feature one Display Port and two HDMI ports.
The new Odyssey OLED models include two for the G9 series: the G95SD and G93SD. There’s also a new G8 series monitor: the G85SD. The two G9 series monitors feature dual QHD resolution, a 32:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio, and an 1,800R curved design. Smart Hub and Gaming Hub are available on the G95SD, but not the G93SD.
