No one thinks that wearables like smartwatches are a security hole for businesses. But they can be. Samsung now has a solution that allows businesses to close this vulnerability.

In a press release on Thursday, Samsung announced updates to Knox Manage, the company’s enterprise mobility management solution. Knox Manage now has the ability to help IT administrators configure, track and manage wearable devices, such as smartwatches, running the Wear OS 4.0 operating system.

The new security features enable IT administrators to use a “pair and detach enrollment process” to manage wearables, and it can be deployed in bulk. The policies that can be configured via Knox Manage policies around wearables, such as Over-the-Air updates, power and volume adjustments, connectivity settings, app restrictions and management, mobile data management, and Wi-Fi configurations.

“Our direct Wear OS integration and enhanced management capabilities enable wearables to be leveraged for B2B applications as a secure endpoint that companies can confidently deploy for their workforce,” said Brad Haczynski, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile B2B, Samsung Electronics America, in the press release.
