In 2024, the survival horror game Alien: Isolation will celebrate its 10th anniversary and developer Creative Assembly is celebrating in a big way.
screaming like an ab*tch in Alien Isolation
Creative director Al Hope released a statement today thanking fans worldwide for all the love they’ve given the game over the past decade, and expressing how passionate they are about a potential sequel. Hope concluded the statement by confirming that a sequel to the game is currently in early development. While the director couldn’t share any details about what the sequel will be about or how it will play, he did say that more news will be delivered in the future and that the development team is excited to be working on the sequel.
As soon as the announcement was made, Alien: Isolation fans jumped on the game’s dedicated Reddit page to cheer the announcement. “Screamed so loud they heard it in space,” one Reddit user posted, referencing the iconic tagline from the original Alien film that the game takes so much inspiration from. “WHAAAAAAT!!!??!?!? THIS IS AMAZING NEWS OMG! When do preorders start? Take my money now Lol,” another user said, barely containing his excitement.
The excitement in the thread was palpable, but there were still fans who were disappointed that development on the sequel was still so early. "EARLY DEVELOPMENT?! This is both awesome and horrible news, like hearing that Death Stranding 2 is coming out later in '25," one user posted, though they still admitted to being excited that a sequel was happening at all. It's an understandable frustration considering how long it takes to develop sequels to popular games these days, especially since the original game is 10 years old.
