ZACH BRAFF: Stressed Out When You Stand Still, Missing Scrubs, and 'Garden State' Chip on Shoulder
“I didn’t expect my career to have a breakthrough in my mid-50s,” says Bill Lawrence, creator/co-creator of Spin City, Scrubs and Cougar Town, who has four series: Shrinking on Apple TV+ and Bad Monkey, an upcoming HBO comedy starring Steve Carell, and Jason Sudeikis’ Apple TV+ phenomenon Ted Lasso, already set to return for Season 4.
Add to that the long-awaited reboot of his NBC/ABC medical comedy Scrubs . In Part 1 of Deadline's interview with Lawrence, he talks about the season finale of Bad Monkey and hints at a possible second season. Here, Lawrence discusses the status of the Scrubs revival and the prospect of more Ted Lasso, as well as his new series with Carell and its connection to Bad Monkey.
The biggest hurdle for the Scrubs sequel was reaching a deal with Warner Bros. TV, with whom Lawrence has an exclusive deal, so he could work on the reboot, since Scrubs is produced by Disney's 20th Television.
