The last new weapon added to Apex Legends was the Nemesis back in Season 16. Since then, we’ve seen reworks, nerfs, buffs, and switches in and out of supply drops for each season. But the newest addition for Season 22 introduces an entirely new weapon type: the Akimbo.

Perhaps best known for their aggressive playstyle in Call of Duty: Warzone, akimbo (dual-wielded) weapons can be absolutely deadly and a real pain in the ass in the right hands. Announced in the official Apex Legends Shockwave gameplay trailer and on EA.com, Apex’s akimbo weapons will arrive alongside the new Revival Mode and long-awaited aim assist nerfs.

This new feature is coming exclusively to the P2020 and Mozambique on August 6th. Each bullet is boosted when you deal double damage by firing both weapons at once. Aiming down sights is not available for the akimbo weapons, however. Instead, aiming down sights on bullets fired with the standard trigger will reduce the spread instead of pulling the sights inward. Optics are also not required for the akimbo, but you can change the rate of fire to holster one pistol.

The akimbo feature also doesn't behave like a hop-up, allowing you to equip two pistols by simply picking up another P2020 or Mozambique while you already have one equipped. You can't equip a P2020 and a Mozambique at the same time.
