Baldur's Gate 3 has been out for over a year now, but apparently even its massive player base hasn't figured out all of its secrets. Just this week, fans discovered a Lae'zel ending so rare that no one has yet discovered it while playing.
The funniest ending of Baldurs Gate 3
The ending, impossible to see in a normal BG3 playthrough, was first discovered by YouTuber SlimX while digging through the RPG's rigid code. In this ending, Lae'zel remains herself and does not become a Mind Flayer. However, because she failed to kill Orpheus, Vlaakith refuses to let her ascend and subsequently condemns her to be hunted for all eternity; in response to this brutal damnation, Lae'zel ends her own life.
The YouTuber further manipulated the coding to show what the ending would be like if Vlaakith didn't care that Lae'zel was a Mind Flayer. In this ending, Lae'zel is allowed to go to Tu'narath and ascends. This one is a little creepy, as the queen appears to chop Lae'zel's head off in the last scene, but the door closes. So who knows what happened to Mind Flayer Lae'zel? You can watch all three ending scenes in the video below.
These alternate futures for the BG3 character, which are still elusive in-game as far as Dot Esports has seen, are reminiscent of an ending that Larian recently revealed only 34 players had unlocked. In that ultra-rare Lae'zel finale, you play as Lae'ze until Vlaakith rejects her ascension on the grounds that she's a Mind Flayer. At that point, you can choose to have Lae'zel end her own life. It's pretty close to today's new discovery.
