After years of pretending that Shadow The Hedgehog (2005) didn’t exist, imagine the shock that last week’s Sonic x Shadow Generations trailer caused. Not only do we get Black Doom as the remastered game’s main villain, but we also see the reappearance of the Black Arms and related transformations for Shadow.

SEGA dropped a new trailer for Sonic x Shadow Generations during Summer Game Fest. It showed off a lot of things we already knew about the game, like completely remastered graphics and a dedicated Shadow campaign. But fans weren’t prepared for the ultimate lifeform that would sprout alien wings.

These wings are a form of mutation of the Black Arms DNA that Gerald Robotnik collected from Black Doom, the leader of an alien race that once attempted to conquer Earth in Shadow The Hedgehog (2005). That was the last and only time SEGA touched on that part of Shadow's history until Generations remastered.
