Sennheiser RS175 Wireless HiFi Headphones Review, Great Wireless Headset for PC and Movie Watching
The niche that the Sennheiser RS175 RF Wireless Headphones fill is a little-known one. You're no doubt familiar with Bluetooth wireless headphones, with the likes of Bose QuietComforts and Apple AirPods flooding the market. But RF-connecting wireless headphones cater to an entirely different user base. Because the device will only connect wirelessly to the specific receiver standard it ships with, you'll need to pair that receiver with your audio playback device in order to hear its signal play through your headphones.
This category of headphones is therefore primarily marketed towards home use, for those who want to use wireless headphones while watching TV shows or playing video games. Since TVs rarely have built-in Bluetooth capabilities, it’s crucial to have a pair of headphones that can connect wirelessly via some other means. We spent about a week with our RS175s, watching Netflix, playing AAA video games, and even streaming some music from another room. Read on to see how it all turned out.
While some of Sennheiser’s modern headphones have featured sleek designs, we’re disappointed to say that the RS175s don’t. It’s not for lack of trying, though. There are plenty of Sennheiser-esque design cues sprinkled throughout the headphones’ construction. The cups are roughly 4 inches tall and have a vaguely inverted teardrop shape, except that some of the edges have been flattened into a pentagonal shape.
