The current boom in DIY culture has just spawned a new app for creative, project-oriented people to document and share their passions. Facebook’s experimental group, NPE (new product experimentation), has quietly released Hobbi to the App Store.
While some media outlets, such as The Verge, compare it to Pinterest, Hobbi is more like Google's Tangi, an app that lets crafters and other DIYers share step-by-step videos and images with other users.
Whatever app it’s competing with, Hobbi is still pretty bare-bones. Once you download it, you just plug in your phone number and create a project. You can add images you’ve already taken, or take them right away and add them to a step-by-step project, adding captions as you go. You can add your photos to a Ken Burns-style video and then share them using the regular share sheet on iOS.
If you’re looking for another way to show off your creative skills, or just want to show off a new app system, Hobbi is now available on the iOS App Store. We couldn’t find it on Google Play at the time of writing.
