“Defragment your hard drive” has been the cure-all for PC performance issues ever since the command line became the standard interface for home computers. It’s a technique intended to improve the performance of traditional mechanical hard drives, but should you defrag an SSD?
These newer solid state drives operate on completely different principles than mechanical drives, so is there a reason to still do it? And more importantly, could it be bad for your SSD?
