This family is a major part of Hackett's Quarry and as you will notice, they follow the characters quite a bit into the story, seemingly leading us into danger through the shadows. Are these hunters good or are the Hacketts evil? So, should you kill the Hacketts in The Quarry?

In some cases, the Hacketts, or hunters, help our counselors by smearing werewolf blood on them to protect them from attacks. Furthermore, Travis, who is a Hackett himself, warns Laura and Max not to go to the camp to save them. So while the family’s presence was initially meant to protect the characters, it turns into a negative feeling after a certain event. This is when they start chasing you with the intention of killing you.
Plus, without spoiling too much, the Hacketts are part of the reason the Quarry isn’t a safe place, so in my gameplay I was only friendly to Travis for his help and didn’t spare any other Hacketts. Ultimately, the story encourages you to form your own opinion of the Hackett family. You can decide whether the Hacketts are victims or part of the problem.
