After defeating Cazador Szarr, Astarion has the option to become a Vampire Ascendant in Baldur’s Gate 3. At this point, you’ll have to decide whether to stop the ritual or let him Ascend. Choosing either option will progress the story accordingly. You’ll likely want to choose the best option for your gameplay, which is why we’re here to help you out. Check out whether you should let Astarion Ascend in BG3 below.
Baldur's Gate 3 – Why You Should Betray ASTARION
To make a wise decision, you need to know the consequences of all the decisions you can make. So, this is what will happen if you choose to stop the ritual, or if you let Astarion Ascend in Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3).
If you select this option, Astarion will become the Vampire Ascendant. And in the process, several Vampire Spawns will be sacrificed, including Cazador and Astarion's six siblings. Astarion's hunger for power will finally be gone. At first, he will show his gratitude to you, but later Astarion will sound like Cazador (dominant and arrogant). In addition, you will feel possessiveness if you are currently romancing Astarion in BG3.
On the other hand, having Astarion ascend in Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3) will increase your party's overall power. Having him complete the ritual grants him new powers such as Ascendant Bite and Misty Escape. You also gain a +1d10 Necrotic Damage bonus on weapon and unarmed attack rolls. Having Astarion ascend will earn you the disapproval of your other party members.
