After exploring the city of Reithwin and coming across the Sharran Sanctuary beneath it, you will come across three statues that will grant you unique Shar Blessings. However, interacting with the statues and passing a few saving throws will immediately reveal a hidden room containing a Shar Altar with a ritual dagger on top.
Secret Sharran Shrine in Reithwin Town (Ritual Dagger of Shar) – Baldur's Gate 3
You can continue the ritual to get some rewards, such as scrolls and potions, and to gain Shadowheart's approval. However, many may be wondering if they should take Shar's dagger from Baldur's Gate 3, which is on the altar.
Since every choice in the Dungeons and Dragons universe can be critical and have consequences, stealing the dagger might not quite fit. And since you don’t want to mess with the literal Goddess of Darkness and Loss, you might want to think twice before taking the Dagger of Shar in Baldur’s Gate 3. So if you’re wondering whether or not to take it, here’s everything you need to know.
We don't recommend bringing the Dagger of Shar into Baldur's Gate 3. Since the dagger only does 1d4 extra Necrotic damage and isn't entirely optimal for combat, you can leave it at the Shar Altar. You'll find quite useful weapons than the dagger as you progress through the game.
