The decision whether or not you take the girl’s hand in the opening of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance determines the entire story you’re about to play. Whether you’re new to the game or have played the original, you should take her hand. Here’s why.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance First Impressions
You must take the girl's hand to begin the new story in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. This version, also known as Canon of Vengeance, has new content that isn't in the original 2021 game, especially after the midpoint. The early game feels the same no matter what you choose. If you don't take her hand, you'll be playing the original story, Canon of Creation, making Vengeance simply a remake with no new content.
I recommend taking the maiden’s hand and playing Canon of Vengeance whether you’re new or returning. New players will get a better version with more to offer, while veterans will get new content for a fresh experience. Just say no to the maiden’s hand if you’re doing a second playthrough. Try the Hard difficulty setting to spice up the early game, which is the same for both choices.
This choice makes Vengeance a two-in-one game, giving you a new story and the original 2021 game. With multiple save slots, you can play both at once if you want.
