How do I shut down or restart Ubuntu 18.04 LTS?
In Linux, it’s fairly easy (as in most operating systems) to reboot your computer, log out of your user account, or completely shut down your system. Often, it’s as simple as pressing the power button on your computer or clicking a button on the toolbar. In Ubuntu, you’ll see a window like this pop up.
You can choose to shut down your computer immediately (after you end your session), restart it, log out, and more.
All of this can also be done via the Terminal, which is especially useful for Ubuntu users who always have a Terminal session open. This method also includes a few options, most notably for shutting down your system.
