Sigourney Weaver became emotional when she spoke about Kamala Harris during her press conference at the Venice Film Festival, just before accepting a Golden Lion for lifetime achievement.

Asked about the impact of her acting on empowering women — particularly her “Alien” character Ripley — and how it could make it possible for Harris to become U.S. president, Weaver said she was “so excited for Kamala.”

She then appeared to cry at the thought that she had any influence. "If I think for one moment that my work had anything to do with her rise, I get very happy, because it's true," she said. "There are so many women who come to thank me."

As she choked, Weaver grabbed her water and joked, “Sorry, I need my vodka.”
