There's good news for popular Snapchat content creators, as they will soon get to share a portion of the proceeds from the advertising campaign.
Introducing Snapchat's Stories Revenue Share Program
The social media messaging app has just announced a new service that inserts ads into the middle of stories, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to the creators, according to an official press release from the company.
The program is only available to Snapchat's most popular content creators, known as "Snap Stars." If you're unfamiliar with Snapchat's machinations, you can think of the Snap Star as a blue checkmark on Twitter.
Here’s how it works. Ads are played in the middle of stories created by these superusers, and in turn, they get paid. Snapchat is a bit vague about the nature of these payouts, however, noting only that they’re based on a payment formula that takes into account audience engagement and posting frequency.
