Google Android TV users are reporting that they can install apps on their TV through their phone, thanks to a new Play Store feature.
Google Play now lets you install Android TV apps from your phone
The feature was first spotted by a Reddit user on Sunday. According to the user, they were able to download an app to their Android TV using a new install option in the Google Play Store. The new install button appears when they browse an app’s store page on an Android device connected to the same account, one running Android TV OS.
The ability to remotely install apps isn’t exactly new for Google. The company has offered similar options in the Play Store on desktop, and also on mobile when installing apps for Wear OS devices.
However, it will be handy to have it on your smartphone, since most of us have our phones with us when watching TV or sitting in the living room. And if you can install apps on your Android TV device, you will also no longer have the headache of using voice control or having to find the app on Google TV.
