Sonos Beam (Gen 2) Review: What Did They Do?! 🤯
The Sonos Beam is one of the latest offerings from a brand known for its audio products. It’s not the only soundbar in the Sonos line (there’s the much larger Playbar and the more substantial Playbase), but in our opinion it offers the best value in form factor, price, and overall versatility. It’s a little lacking in the sound quality department, and some of the flashier projection that the larger Sonos speakers offer isn’t present here. Still, if you want a sleek soundbar with a good feature set, the Beam is a great option.
The design is perhaps the Sonos Beam’s best feature. That may not be a saving grace, considering this is a speaker and sound is arguably its most important category. But we just can’t get over how nice and modern the form factor looks and feels on this soundbar. The entire edge of the soundbar is wrapped in a soft mesh grille. Other than that, the soundbar looks unobtrusive and will fit into your entertainment setup without being too obtrusive.
At about 2.5 inches tall and 25.5 inches long, it’s one of the smallest soundbars we tested that still delivers self-contained bass response worthy of a home theater. The Beam is designed to sit flat under your TV or mount flush against the wall. One small design touch we really appreciated is the fact that the Sonos logo is a palindrome, meaning that the logo will display correctly whether it’s sitting flat on your TV stand or mounted on the wall.
