Sonos home theater devices now support DTS Digital Surround audio, so you can enjoy a great sound experience while watching movies, playing games, or listening to music.
How to get DTS on your Sonos with S2 version 13.4
The addition of DTS audio comes in a new update to software version 13.4. The DTS audio format is one of the biggest players in the surround sound landscape, alongside other names like Dolby Digital, and can be used on more device sources.
DTS uses less compression in the encoding (or transmission) process than other audio formats such as Dolby. As a result, when decoded, DTS generally provides a better listening experience, according to some listeners.
The Verge notes that DTS support will reportedly be coming to Sonos devices, both new and old, in the update. Those devices include the Sonos Arc and both generations of the Beam soundbar, Amp, Playbar and Playbase.
