Last week was a brutal one for the Helldivers 2 development team, and Sony in general. The news that players would be required to link PSN accounts to Steam in order to play resulted in a review bombing of several PlayStation titles on PC.
Helldivers 2 community in 'open rebellion' as devs respond…
Arrowhead Game Studios, the developers of Helldivers 2, were met with a horde of angry fans who review bombed the game and launched a vicious social media campaign to boycott it. The amount of negative reviews was near record-breaking and undoubtedly convinced Sony to eventually drop the PSN requirement.
Studio head Johan Pilestedt attempted to calm players and fans on X before Sony’s announcement, but the conflict continued to escalate with what appeared to be a modified Major Order from the community. While they bombed Helldivers 2 on Steam, the bombs also fell on many other Sony games on the platform, such as God of War, The Last of Us Part 1, and more.
