Sony just announced its new WF-1000XM4 wireless earbuds, which feature industry-leading noise cancelling performance.
Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds review – 6 months later
The WF-1000XM4 builds on the noise-cancelling technology used in previous Sony products by adding two noise-sensing microphones in each earbud – one feed-forward, one feed-backward. These microphones analyze ambient sound and work with a newly designed 6mm driver unit to generate a noise-cancelling signal with a 20% increase in magnet volume.
There is also an automatic wind noise reduction mode for use on windy days.
In addition to noise cancellation, the WF-1000XM4 supports High-Resolution Audio Wireless with a maximum transfer rate of 900 kbps, as well as 360 Reality Audio when paired with a compatible smartphone. Adaptive Sound Control senses the environment to automatically adjust ambient sound settings, and can learn to recognize frequently visited locations.
