A new firmware update is rolling out for the PS5, bringing several improvements to the DualSense controllers and the Screen Sharing feature.
NEW PS5 System Update: Mic Improvements, Split Screen, Console Lighting Tested and Compared
Once installed, the update significantly improves the speakers and microphone on the controllers. The DualSense controller speakers will now produce a louder volume, allowing for better voice chat and in-game sounds. If the sounds get too loud for your taste, you can adjust the controller speaker volume from the control center.
There’s also better noise cancellation for the microphone inputs, thanks to a new AI machine learning model. This prevents background noise like button presses and game audio from interfering with your voice, improving the overall quality of voice chat.
The firmware update also brings new features to PS5’s Screen Share. Viewers will be able to move their cursors, send pings, or draw lines on the shared screen, allowing them to highlight objects and areas to guide players. Viewers can also send emoji reactions to encourage players or celebrate victories. If it gets too annoying, the host can disable the feature via the Share Screen settings.
