The Sony WH-1000XM3 are probably the perfect Bluetooth headphones you can buy on the market right now. That’s a bold claim, we know, and normally we’d temper it with some shortcomings and caveats, but in this case the WH-100XM3 are hard to fault.

The sound quality is great, the noise cancellation is probably the best you can find, and the build quality is nothing short of magical. But like any purchase, there are priorities to sort out before you pull $350 out of your pocket, so let’s take a look.

The previous generation of Sony’s noise-cancelling headphones (the M2s) look a lot like the 1000XM3s. Both headphones look great, with lots of soft lines and a delicately angled orientation for the earcups. Many headphones in this class position the earcups flush with the headband, which looks great when the headphones are sitting on a table. But when the headphones are sitting on your head, the 1000XM3s have a much more pleasant, futuristic sense of movement.
