Are 'Budget' Flagship Headphones Actually Any Good? Sony WH-XB900N Review
The Sony WH-XB900N headphones are a remarkable achievement in many ways: they pack many of the quality and features of more expensive wireless noise-cancelling headphones into a much more affordable product with surprisingly few compromises. As long as you keep your expectations in check and haven’t been spoiled by better headphones, the WH-XB900N may well be the perfect, wallet-friendly option for wireless, noise-cancelling listening.
The WH-XB900N will not win any fashion awards: no molds were broken in the making of these headphones, at least visually they are very boring and standard. They look quite bulky and clumsy on the head, but overall their appearance is neither particularly bad nor particularly great.
In terms of build quality, the WH-XB900N isn’t anything to write home about either. The plastic construction feels distinctly cheap, which didn’t fill us with much confidence in the headphones’ durability. However, judging by the surprisingly robust adjustment system, it seems that the internal structure is a lot stronger than the exterior would lead us to believe. You’ll want to be careful not to wear these in rainy weather, as they’re not at all weather-resistant.
