Right now, it's still easy to hear when you're talking to a computer, but that could soon change thanks to recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI).

Google recently unveiled LaMDA, an experimental model that the company claims can expand the capabilities of its conversational AI assistants and enable more natural conversations. LaMDA aims to eventually be able to converse normally about almost anything without any prior training.
It's one of many AI projects that makes you wonder if you're talking to a human.
“I estimate that within the next 12 months, users will be exposed to and acclimated to these new, more emotional voices,” said James Kaplan, CEO of MeetKai, an AI-powered virtual voice assistant and search engine, in an email interview.
