There are a bunch of new features and feature updates coming to Android, from improvements to file sharing to more accessibility features.
💯 Best way to transfer files between devices
Nearby Share is the first of many Android improvements that Google has been highlighting as the AirDrop-like feature expands its reach to more devices. Yes, you could already share files between Android phones, but once that rolls out, you'll be able to connect to other Android devices as well. This will let you easily transfer photos, videos, and more between your phone, Android tablet, or Chromebook.
Gboard is also getting emoji support, and Gboard Beta app users can try it out for themselves right now. It lets users "emojify" their messages with a single tap, while also adding several new Emoji Kitchen mash-ups as Gboard stickers. And Google Meet for Android phones and tablets adds live sharing options for videos and some classic games, with support for up to 100 simultaneous friends and family members.
There are also a few new accessibility options on the way, starting with improved notifications for the Live Transcribe & Notification app. It will detect nearby sounds (door knocks, alarms, etc.) and then send an alert to your phone or watch. You can add your own custom sounds for the app to listen out for. Google TV will also be sorting its audio-described movies into a new category. Just use Google Assistant to "Search audio-described movies" for a curated list.
