The original announcement had stated that HiFi audio would launch in late 2021 as a perk for Spotify Premium subscribers.
Currently, Spotify lags behind other music streaming services in terms of high-quality audio features, and unless something is done soon, that gap will only widen.
For example, Apple Music gave its users support for Spatial Audio and Lossless in 2021. Spatial Audio enables immersive 3D sound through AirPods and other compatible headphones, while Lossless offers high-quality, low-compression audio for an even better listening experience.
