Spotify has announced a change to the way users can sign up for the waitlist for its upcoming music player Car Thing.
Spotify Car Thing: I have one!
On Thursday, Spotify rolled out an update for the limited release of its upcoming Car Thing music player. According to the announcement, Spotify will now allow users of all types to join the waitlist, but you’ll still need a Premium subscription to actually use Car Thing.
Spotify also noted that users who previously signed up for the Car Thing waitlist will get the first chance to purchase the Car Thing. The music device will retail for $79.99 when it's available, though Spotify initially shipped it to some users without charging any money for it.
The basic idea behind Car Thing is to make various entertainment and information functions available for almost all vehicles, especially older vehicles without touchscreens and where many of those functions are already built in.
