For those who haven't yet made the jump to current-gen consoles, a surprise awaits: one of the biggest games of 2023 is getting a brand new port.

NEW Star Wars Jedi Survivor Update CONFIRMED, PS4/Xbox One RELEASE DATE!

Electronic Arts has announced that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the Soulslike action game that follows Cal Kestis and his ongoing war against the Galactic Empire, will be receiving a port for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year. These ports were first announced back in August of last year, but now we have an official release date meaning everyone will be able to experience the next chapter in Cal’s journey. And if those still on last-gen ever decide to make the switch, EA has also confirmed that upgrades between consoles will be free, and save files will also be able to transfer without any hassle.

It’s nice to hear that previous-gen consoles will still be supported in 2024, especially considering how expensive it has become to even play a game these days. However, it does raise the question of how the game will perform on previous-gen hardware. After all, the technical issues that plagued Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at launch were well-documented, with the PC version receiving the most criticism from fans. Patches were released to address these issues, but the poor performance did not bode well for the game. And if the terrible Nintendo Switch port of Mortal Kombat 1 taught us anything, it’s that inferior hardware leads to a host of optimization issues.
