Amazon and Starbucks have partnered for a combined Starbucks Pickup and Amazon Go store, which recently opened in New York.
Amazon Go and Starbucks Team Up for New Store in NYC
The new store, called “Starbucks Pickup with Amazon Go,” opened today in Manhattan on 59th Street between Park & Lexington Ave., and is intended to offer customers a convenient digital checkout experience, according to the announcement.
Starbucks Pickup stores generally specialize in fulfilling online orders that have been placed in advance through the app. Customers can place and pay for their orders in the Starbucks app while en route to the store, then pick them up when they arrive without having to wait in line.
Using Just Walk Out technology, Amazon Go stores connect with a customer’s Amazon Shopping app as they walk in, so they can grab the items they want and then walk out. Anything they pick up from the shelf is added to their cart (or removed from the cart if they’re put back in), and the app automatically checks out for them as they leave.
