The SDV 1.6 update added two new mini fishing festivals alongside the Desert event. Much like the SquidFest, the Stardew Valley Annual Trout Derby is a two-day event where you have to catch a specific type of fish. Your goal, however, isn’t the fish, but something else. If you want to grab all of the festival’s rewards, including the Warp Totem: Farm and Tent Kit, you’ll need to collect the items we’ve listed below. Here, we’ve also included some tips on how to complete the task faster and claim them all before the event ends.
What to do in Trout Derby to get super rewards – Stardew Valley 1.6
The annual trout run takes place on the 20th and 21st of the summer. As the name suggests, it is held on the same date every year. The festival site is located in the Cindersap Forest, near Marnie's Ranch. If you walk south from the ranch, you will see a stand on the riverside. It starts at 6:10 in the morning and ends at 2:00 in the morning. You will be notified when the event starts. The festival only lasts for two days, so it is best to get there as soon as possible when it starts.
In this festival, you need to submit a Golden Tag for the rewards. Each tag will give you a specific or random item depending on how many times you have done the exchange. You can get this tag in two ways – from Rainbow Trouts and Fishing Treasure Chest. Both can be caught by fishing in the river within the event area. The Rainbow Trout has a 33% chance to drop the item, which increases with the number of fish you have caught at once.
Use Challenge Bait: You can catch multiple Rainbow Trouts at once by using Challenge Bait. The bait allows players to catch up to three fish at once. It also reduces the lag of fish nibbling on the assigned rod. Use Bait Maker: Bait Maker allows you to craft bait for specific fish. It is unlocked at Fishing level 6 and can be used by placing one fish of the type you want to make the bait for.
