It looks like those who were first in line to pre-order a Steam Deck will have to wait a little longer for the coveted portable gaming device.
Valve's Steam Deck Delayed to 2022
Valve has just announced that the launch of Steam Deck has been pushed back by two months, from December 2021 to February 2022. The PC gaming giant blames the delay on global supply chain issues, according to a company blog post and emails sent to people who pre-ordered the console.
“We have done our best to work around global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, parts are not reaching our manufacturing facilities on time, preventing us from meeting our original launch dates,” the company wrote on Wednesday.
Valve has already updated the estimated release dates on the official Steam Deck page , so if you pre-ordered the unit you should see Q1 or Q2 of 2022 as your new release window. The company says that anyone with an active pre-order will keep their spot in line, with the start of the queue itself moving to February.
